随着19-20申请季的开始，美国各高校的补充文书 (Supplement) 题目也已经陆续揭开面纱。和昨天谈论的主文书不同，补充文书是极具学校特色的存在，学校通过补充素材，也能判断申请人的个人特质和与学校的匹配度。
领帆：不是，只有部分学校会在申请材料中要求补充文书，各位同学可以前往学校官网查看。
领帆：与主文书相比，补充文书的字数要求少了很多，一般只需150-250 word，最多不得超过500 word。
与主文书的主题固定不同，补充文书更加多元化，形式更加丰富，提问的范围更加大。一般是命题作文，主题围绕在『Why school』, 『Why major』, 『Activities&hobbies』。
除此之外，还有一些学校会出一些天马行空的作文题。耶鲁大学就曾出过“如果你要在耶鲁教一门课，你会选择教什么？”
下面我们来一起看一下19-20fall的补充文书实例。在众多美国大学中，芝加哥大学的补充文书题目一向以趣味性和独特另类著称，十分考验学生对于题目的理解力，让申请人们又爱又恨。
Question 1 (Required 必选题目)
How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future? Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to UChicago.

Question 2 Extended Essay (Required; Choose one 可选题目，需要任选其一）

Cats have nine lives, Pac-Man has three lives, and radioactiveisotopes have half-lives. How many lives does something else — conceptualor actual — have, and why?

【Essay Option 2】
If there’s a limited amount of matter in the universe, how can Olive Garden (along with other restaurants and their concepts of food infinity) offer truly unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks? Explain this using any method of analysis you wish — physics, biology, economics, history, theology… the options, as you can tell, are endless.
如果宇宙中的物质是有限的，橄榄园（以及其他餐厅和他们在食物无限方面的概念）如何能够真正提供无限的汤、沙拉和面包棒？你可以用任何你想要使用的包括物理、化学、经济、历史、神学……等方式来解释这一情况。

【Essay Option 6】
“Don’t be afraid to pick past prompts! I liked some of the ones from previous years more than those made newly available for my year. Also, don’t worry about the ‘correct’ way to interpret a question. If there exists a correct way to interpret the promptI chose, it certainly was not my answer.”
“不要害怕挑选过去的文书题目！相比起我申请时的那些题目，我更喜欢往年的一些文书题目。同样的，不要担心诠释题目的 “正确“ 方式。如果有正确的方式来诠释我所选的题目，那么那肯定不是我的答案。”
正如上面的题干所说，补充文书没有标准答案，学生可以根据自己的理解回答。虽然是“补充”，但它的重要性与主文书是不相上下的。各位同学仍需用心对待。
